Shayla and Gino first saw each other at a Christmas bible study in December of 2022.
They sat across from each other, introduced themselves, and shared a few glances; but, had no further interaction. Almost a year later, Shayla and Gino met on an online dating platform without realizing any prior connection. On their first date, they realized they not only go to the same church but have met before at the same exact bible study group.
On the second date, Gino met Shayla, and her dog Willow, at a park for a walk. Near the end of the walk, Gino held out his closed hand and said, “Can you hold this for a second?”, and proceeded to hold Shayla’s hand for the rest of the walk. On October 12 th , 2023, after taking Shayla to see a movie, Gino asked Shayla to officially be his girlfriend. After a few months of dating, both Shayla and Gino felt they had found their person (and Willow approved too). They proceeded to date for an additional year going on trips to Apple Hill and Disney Land as well as many in town adventures. Gino and Shayla went on a trip to visit Evan, Shayla’s brother, in New York over the holidays. On New Years Eve, 2024, Gino proposed to Shayla during the ball drop in New York City.
She said “Yes!”.
And the rest is history
Gino and Shayla are thrilled to begin their life together. After the wedding, they plan to celebrate with a dream honeymoon in Japan before returning home to start the next chapter of their journey. In the coming years, they hope to grow their family and look forward to the joy of raising children. They’re also excited to continue building their careers—Gino pursuing his path in cyber security, and Shayla advancing in healthcare administration.
Above all, they are grateful for the blessings that have brought them together and look forward to wherever the Lord leads them next.
